The liability lands on two desks
Under California’s client-employer law (AB 1897, Labor Code §2810.3), the grower shares liability for the contractor crews on their land — and it can’t be waived. Cal/OSHA §3203 treats training you can’t document as training that never occurred. When the record is missing, the contractor loses the grower and the grower loses the defense. The same proof protects both.
